This course is designed for summertime hikers who want to get out in the winter or spring on snow covered trails. These skills will increase your hiking season and give you more confidence and techniques to move through snow covered terrain and trails. We will use micro-spikes and ski poles for this course along with your own trail running shoes or light weight hiking boots. This is a fun day in the mountains learning and practising skills to get you outside.
Prerequisites: Must be in moderate shape and able to hike 3 to 5 miles with up to 1800’ of elevation gain throughout a day. Running shoes or light weight hiking boots, gaiters, microspikes, ski poles, and winter clothing provided by participant.
