FROG LAKE HUT

We offer private guiding to the Frog Lake Huts for your group following your itinerary of your personal hut reservation. Your guide can arrange your travel route in and out of the Frog Lake Huts and also guide your days while staying at the huts.

Reservations are available for 3 day/2 night or 4 day/3 night backcountry ski trips. The Frog Lake Backcountry Huts are located near Donner Summit just northwest of Truckee, California.  Frog Lake Huts are at 7,600 feet and in the winter months receives an average of over 400 inches of snow per year. All routes to the huts involve navigating avalanche terrain.

The Huts

Details

This trip requires advanced ski resort skiers or riders with at least 10 days of backcountry experience and who are in excellent fitness.  You must at least have taken an Intro to Backcountry Course with TMS, with it highly recommended that participants have also taken an AIARE 1 avalanche course.  Skiers and riders must be competent is a variety of terrain and snow conditions and must be able to link turns in ungroomed black diamond terrain confidently while wearing a heavy backpack.  A detailed equipment list and itinerary will be sent out to participants after booking.

Private Guide Rates 

$800/day for up to 4 people. Please contact our office for availability.  

Your guide can cook your breakfasts and dinners with a Haute Cuisine menu for an additional fee.

1-way Porter Service is available for $400, hauling up to 45 pounds of food/gear/or equipment to/or from the hut.
