Castle Peak is the 2nd highest peak in Tahoe National Forest at 9104' and remains one of the most iconic landmarks in our area. Getting to the top involves a challenging hike with some easy scrambling. The ridge between Castle and Basin Peaks offers one of the most spectacular ridgelines in the area with views of the steep terrain into Round Valley and the mighty North side of Castle Peak. Depending on the route, this hike could be up to 10 miles in length with over 2300' of elevation gain. This hike takes advantage of spring wildflowers as well as fall colors and is a TMS favorite!
All of our day hikes can be done as private trips for you and your group. This hike requires a minimum of 2 participants to run.
