CASTLE PEAK BACKCOUNTRY
CASTLE PEAK BACKCOUNTRY
Low spots left
Castle Peak is the second highest peak in the Tahoe National Forest with beautiful views and varied ski descents. It has everything from open bowls, gladed trees, steep chutes, winter powder and spring corn options. It is in a very snowy location along the Sierra Crest and is very good for early season, as well as late season backcountry tours.
Your guide will do a tour plan with you in the morning going over the current avalanche and weather forecasts for the day. After discussing the current conditions, we will come up with the best terrain options to find the best snow and descents.
Prerequisites
Advanced in bounds ski resort skiing or splitboarding skills with good physical condition are required for this tour. This would be a great option after you have taken an Intro to Backcountry Skiing/Splitboarding course and a AIARE avalanche course with us. These tours average 2000-3000' vertical feet of climbing throughout the day.
