About Us

Rogers Pass

Tahoe Mountain School was started in the winter of 2013-2014 to provide professional education to the backcountry community.  Based out of Tahoe Mountain Sports in Truckee, we offer a full avalanche education program, ski guiding program, mountaineering program, and wilderness medicine program.  TMS is family owned and operated by Steve and Sarah Reynaud.  They have been Truckee residents since 1995 and Steve has been involved in avalanche education and guiding since 1999.  Steve is a avalanche forecaster for the Sierra Avalanche Center and has been working for the organization since 2006.  In addition to recreational training, education, and guiding, TMS provides professional avalanche safety training, risk management consultation, avalanche forecasting, and avalanche mapping services for private organizations, local road crews, search and rescue organizations, and land use agencies.

Tahoe Mountain School operates under special use permit with the Tahoe National Forest, Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest, and the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
